American Bully
Powerful exterior, gentle soul — the perfect family guardian in a compact muscular package.
Back to All DogsGeneral Information
The American Bully is a relatively new breed, developed in the USA in the 1980s–90s from American Pit Bull Terriers and American Staffordshire Terriers. Despite their imposing, heavily muscled appearance, American Bullies are bred to be friendly, loyal, and exceptionally gentle family companions. They come in four size classes: Pocket, Standard, Classic, and XL. In India, they are gaining rapidly in popularity.
Behaviour & Temperament
American Bullies are gentle, affectionate, and eager to please. They are excellent with children and bond deeply with family. Despite their intimidating appearance, they are not naturally aggressive — proper socialization creates a calm, confident companion. They have moderate energy levels and require 45–60 minutes of exercise daily. They are highly responsive to positive reinforcement training.

What Makes This Breed Special
Health & Care
American Bullies are prone to hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, heart disease, skin allergies, and eye conditions (cherry eye). Their muscular build can lead to joint stress, especially in XL and XXL variants. Overbreeding for extreme body structure (overly short faces in Micro/Exotic varieties) has introduced significant health issues — stick to Standard and Classic varieties for better health.
Price in India (INR)
XL and Exotic/Micro American Bullies command dramatically higher prices. Colour genetics (merle, tri-colour, champagne) greatly influence pricing. Pups from champion bloodlines with ABKC registration are premium-priced. India's American Bully market is growing rapidly, with some top-bloodline pups reaching ₹5–10 lakh.
