General Information
The Pomeranian, affectionately known as 'Pom', descends from larger sled-pulling Spitz breeds. Despite their miniature size, Pomeranians carry an outsized, bold personality. They are among the most popular toy breeds in Indian cities, admired for their fox-like face, fluffy double coat, and vivacious energy. Ideal for apartment living when given regular play sessions and socialization.
Behaviour & Temperament
Poms are lively, curious, and alert — they make surprisingly excellent watchdogs despite their tiny stature, always announcing visitors with sharp barks. They are highly affectionate with their family but can be wary of strangers. Poms can be stubborn, requiring consistent, positive reinforcement-based training from an early age. They enjoy learning tricks and can participate in agility sports.

Health & Care
Pomeranians are prone to luxating patellas, tracheal collapse, hypothyroidism, and dental problems (due to their small mouths). Their luxurious double coat requires brushing 3–4 times per week to prevent matting. Regular dental cleaning is critical. Heat sensitivity is a concern — keep them cool in Indian summers.
Price in India (INR)
Coat colour greatly impacts price. White, cream, and rare merle Pomeranians command the highest prices. Show-quality pups with full, fox-like faces and abundant coats are at the premium end. Teacup-sized Poms may be sold at a premium but are often intentionally undersized, which carries health risks.
