Golden Retriever
A golden heart in a golden coat — the quintessential family companion.
Back to All DogsGeneral Information
The Golden Retriever originated in Scotland in the 1800s and was selectively bred for hunting. Today, they are celebrated worldwide as the ideal family dog. Exceptionally popular in India for their gentle disposition, stunning golden coat, and remarkable intelligence. They excel in obedience competitions, therapy roles, and as affectionate home companions.
Behaviour & Temperament
Golden Retrievers are famously gentle, patient, and devoted. They are excellent with children and other pets, rarely showing aggression. They thrive on human interaction and can suffer from boredom if under-exercised. Goldens are highly expressive, communicating joy through their wagging tail and bright eyes. They require 1–2 hours of exercise per day and regular mental stimulation through training games.

Health & Care
Golden Retrievers are predisposed to hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and certain cancers. Regular grooming is required due to their dense double coat which sheds seasonally. Monthly ear checks, dental hygiene, and bi-annual vet visits are strongly recommended.
Price in India (INR)
