Boxer
Boundless energy, undying loyalty, and a heart as big as their personality.
Back to All DogsGeneral Information
The Boxer, developed in Germany from the now-extinct Bullenbeisser breed, is a medium-to-large working dog renowned for their muscular build, square jaw, and playful spirit. In India, Boxers are cherished family dogs valued for their natural protectiveness, affectionate nature with children, and clownish, joyful personality. They are forever young at heart — many Boxers retain their puppy-like energy well into adulthood.
Behaviour & Temperament
Boxers are energetic, playful, loyal, and naturally protective. They are fantastic with children, often acting as patient and gentle playmates despite their size. They can be boisterous and require at least 1.5–2 hours of vigorous daily exercise. They are naturally alert and make excellent watchdogs. Without enough exercise, they become destructive. They thrive on human interaction and dislike being alone.

Health & Care
Boxers are predisposed to aortic stenosis and cardiomyopathy (cardiac screening is strongly recommended), certain cancers, hip dysplasia, thyroid conditions, and degenerative myelopathy. As a brachycephalic breed, they can be heat-sensitive. Maintain a healthy weight and ensure cardiovascular health through regular vet checks.
Price in India (INR)
Fawn and brindle are the standard colours. White Boxers (which cannot be shown in competitions) are born in litters but are not bred intentionally. Flash (white markings) patterns vary. Ears may be cropped in some traditional lines.
