General Information
The English Bulldog, also known as the British Bulldog, is one of the most iconic dog breeds in the world. Originally bred for the brutal 'bull baiting' sport, today's English Bulldogs are gentle, affectionate, and surprisingly calm companions. Their distinctive wrinkled face, stocky build, and rolling gait make them instantly recognisable. In India, they are a prestigious breed admired for their unique appearance.
Behaviour & Temperament
English Bulldogs are docile, friendly, and willful. They are excellent with children and generally sociable with other pets. They are not particularly energetic — moderate daily walks of 20–30 minutes suit them well. Despite their stubborn reputation, they respond well to positive reinforcement training. They form strong bonds with their family and are known to be deeply affectionate lap dogs.

Health & Care
English Bulldogs have significant breed-related health challenges. BOAS causes breathing difficulties. They are prone to skin fold infections (require daily cleaning), hip dysplasia, cherry eye, patellar luxation, and heart conditions. They cannot tolerate heat or humidity, making air conditioning essential in India. Natural birthing is rare — most pups are delivered by C-section.

Brindle, fawn, white, and piebald are standard colours. Merle English Bulldogs carry serious health risks and are ethically questionable. Import-quality pups from European bloodlines command premium pricing. This is one of the more expensive breeds to own due to ongoing health care needs.
