General Information
The Samoyed is a beautiful, fluffy, pure-white working breed originally used by the Samoyedic peoples of Siberia for herding reindeer, pulling sleds, and keeping their owners warm at night by sleeping beside them. Famous for their permanent 'Sammy smile' (upturned mouth corners that prevent drooling from forming icicles), they are one of the most visually striking breeds in the world. In India, they are exceptionally rare and highly sought after.
Behaviour & Temperament
Samoyeds are gentle, friendly, adaptable, and incredibly social. They are excellent with children and other animals. They are mischievous, playful, and alert — making surprisingly good watchdogs. They are vocal (love to 'talk' and sing). They require significant daily exercise — at least 1.5–2 hours. They do NOT do well alone and can become destructive or excessively vocal when bored. They thrive in cooler environments.

Health & Care
Samoyeds are prone to Samoyed Hereditary Glomerulopathy (a fatal kidney disease in males), hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, hypothyroidism, and diabetes. Their thick double coat requires extensive grooming — brushing 3–4 times per week and a full groom every 6–8 weeks. Never shave their coat. Air conditioning is essential in India.
Price in India (INR)
Pure white is the breed standard, though cream and biscuit colouring also occurs. Import-quality Samoyeds from Russian or European bloodlines are at the absolute top of the Indian price range. Their rarity in India makes them one of the most exclusive breeds available.
